Studying the Double Rayleigh Backscattering Noise Effect on Fiber-Optic Radio Frequency Transfer

نویسندگان

چکیده

We report the effect of double Rayleigh backscattering (DRB) noise, in which interference signal light with backscattered light, on fiber-optic radio-frequency (RF) transfer system. Here, we theoretically analyze and experimentally demonstrate that DRB noise within fiber link will become dominative RF system once narrow linewidth lasers are used. The strong is confirmed through measurement coherent term 100 km Our results provide evidence conventional technique telecommunications-grade lasers, chromatic dispersion single-mode compensated by compensation fibers (DCFs), could be better choice for high-performance transfer.

Heterogeneous radio-over-fiber passive access network architecture to mitigate Rayleigh backscattering interferometric beat noise.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a hybrid radio-over-fiber (ROF) wavelength division multiplexed and time division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-TDM PON) architecture to mitigate Rayleigh backscattering (RB) interferometric beat noises. Here, only a single wavelength is needed at the central office (CO) to generate the downstream baseband data for optical wired application a...

Radio Interferometer Using Fiber-Optic Links Modulated in the Radio-Frequency Range

We investigated a radio interferometer for geodetic use that incorporates commercially available fiber-optic links modulated in the radio-frequency range, and a method for compensating for the delay occurring in the links. With this type of radio interferometer, we can perform baseline analysis without the need for estimating the clock difference between observation stations, which causes a rel...

Measurement of reduced backscattering noise in laser-driven fiber optic gyroscopes.

We report what we believe to be the first demonstration of a laser-driven fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) built with an air-core fiber. Its phase noise is measured to be 130 murad/ radicalHz. When the sensing fiber is replaced with a conventional fiber, this figure drops to 12 murad/ radicalHz. Comparison between these values suggests that the air-core fiber gyro is most likely not limited solely b...

WDM Ring based Access Network mitigating Rayleigh Backscattering Noise

In this paper it is proposed and investigate a Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network (WDM-PON) ring providing Rayleigh backscattering (RB) noise reduction. Besides, the ring-based architecture also could reduce the RB beat noise .This is possible because RB and upstream signal are moving in opposite direction. In the proposed PON system, we have discussed and did analysis cha...
